Cusco is known as the archaeological capital of the Americas. It is located in the Huatanay River Valley in the Southern Peru and surrounded by enormous mountains over 16,400 ft. / 5.000 m above sea level. This is the oldest city in the Western Hemisphere and is identified as the "Cradle of the Inca civilization."
Cusco is a blended city. It’s a mix of ancient pre-Inca/Inca Architecture and Culture. There are also manySpanish/Colonial influences that makes Cusco the modern city that it is today. For this reason, Cusco has been showcased all over the world and renowned for the impressive preserved ruins that can be found throughout almost all of the continent. Cusco was the heart of the Incan empire during the 14th and 15th centuries and today serves as one of the most visited cities in Peru.
