Travel in Peru:
Cusco Native operates in regions where standards of accommodation, transport and services might not be those you would normally expect. However we strive, with all due care and skill, to provide the best services for our tourists. Traveling in Peru requires flexibility, patience, broad-mindedness, good humor and understanding that changes may be made without notice due to circumstances beyond our control (Force Majeure – see below) By booking any of our tours you agree to Cusco Native making necessary changes without liability.
This is any event that Cusco Native could not, even with all due care, foresee or avoid. This covers events such as war or threat, riot, civil strife, terrorist activity, industrial dispute, disease, disaster or adverse weather conditions, fire or all similar events beyond our control. In this case, Cusco Native not accept liability and reserves the right to change, postpone, or even cancel the trip (this is last option of course).
We as an agency strongly advise you to get travel insurance that covers accidents, medical expenses and emergency repatriation, including rescue and air ambulance. We also recommend that it covers cancellations and loss of luggage. Please forward a copy/policy number to our offices.
By booking any of our adventure trips (Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, Salkantay, Ausangate, Choquequirao, Lares trek etc.) you assume the risk associated with them, for these Cusco Native accepts no responsibility.
Age, Fitness and Participation:
All Passengers are expected to satisfy themselves prior to booking that they are fit and able to complete the itinerary of their choice. Persons over 60 years of age will be advised to obtain medical evidence of fitness to travel on the chosen itinerary. No unaccompanied minors (those under 18 years of age) can be accepted on tours operated by ourselves, however older teenagers may be considered provided they are accompanied by a parent or guardian who accepts full responsibility for them. We reserve the absolute right to decline a booking at our discretion. If, in the opinion of such person, the health or conduct of a passenger before or after departure appears likely to endanger the safety, comfort or happy progress of a tour, the passenger may be excluded from all or part of the tour. In case of illness we will make such arrangements as it deems fit and recover the costs thereof from the passenger.
Illness or Disability:
Anyone suffering from illness or disability or undergoing treatment for any physical or medical condition must declare the true nature of such condition at the time of booking and make arrangements for the provision of any medication and/or other treatment which may be required during the tour. Failure to make such disclosure will constitute a breach of these booking conditions and result in such persons being excluded from the tour in which case all monies paid will be forfeited.
In order to obtain this discount you must have a valid ISIC card. It is important you scan and e-mail this to us at the time of booking and that it is valid on the date you are booked on the Inca Trail/alternative trek (you will need to show the real ISIC card upon your arrival here in Cusco and in Machu Picchu).
Sending Your Personal Details for Booking:

Please advise us if you have or will change your passport after booking the tour (Inca Trail authorities are not very nice when checking passports at the control at Km 82). About the Briefing:
The night before your trek there will be a pre-trek briefing in our office at either 6.30pm or 7.30pm (exact time will be confirmed on your arrival or by email). Your duffle bag will be provided at this time if you have paid for an extra porter for your Inca Trail or if you are doing an alternative trek.
In the event of a cancellation on the Inca Trail we need to be informed in writing and please note that deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE. The institute that governs the trail does not give the agency any refund, therefore we are unable to refund the deposits. Besides from the Inca Trail, cancellation charges will be applied as shown below calculated from the day we receive written notification. In addition to the charges shown below cancellation charges apply to certain hotels, ie. No refund.
Our cancellation table is as follows:
|Days Prior to Start of Trek||Percentage Lost of Total Trek Price|
|29 to 22||60%|
|21 to 9||80%|
|8 to 0||100%|
Once final balance has been paid, we will not be able to refund your trek payment in the case of cancellations. There will, however, be parts of your trip that you are able to use (Machu Picchu entrance fee, train ticket, bus ticket).
In the event of partial cancellations, the remaining passenger may have to pay any remaining charges (e.g. single room supplements or double-occupancy).
VERY IMPORTANT (1):
We strongly suggest staying at high altitude (above 3000 meters - in Cusco or another high altitude city) for 3 to 4 days (minimum) before undertaking the trip. This is in order to minimize the effects of possible altitude sickness. Also, you can help your body acclimatize by drinking plenty of liquids, adding a bit more sugar to your drinks, eating food rich in carbohydrates, avoiding cigarettes and alcohol and drinking coca (ancient traditional leaf) tea. Diamox can also be helpful - please ask your doctor about this.
VERY IMPORTANT (2):
We recommend you arrive in Cusco 48 hours or more before trek departure as we may need to leave earlier than scheduled in case of strikes or other events out of our control (see Force Majeure above).
